Mycraftwork evolved naturally out of the desire to promote the Moroccan Design in the United States.
Started in 2007, Mycraftwork, is run by two brothers born and raised in Morocco. The younger brother, Tao, settled in the US, working in Massachusetts as an Engineer. While Houssine decided to stay in Marrakesh to pursue a career as the CFO of a large resort hotel group. It was through this hotel group that Houssine ended up building an extensive network in the Moroccan Design arena. Together, these brothers got an idea. It seemed simple: We will design high quality, handmade, Moroccan goods, tailored to the American Market.
Tao led a market research campaign and he found a lot of retailers that specialized in reselling handmade Moroccan items, but he couldn’t find a single business that could actually carry out the entire creation cycle, from the design and conception, to the finished product. Houssine began to engage the most skilled artisan cooperatives in experimental projects. So the brothers would design goods (rugs and pottery mostly) and track these works of art as they progressed through the artisans co-op. Amazed by the quality of the finished crafts, they realized that by empowering the artisans, they could become pioneers in the field of custom-designed handmade Moroccan crafts.
Passionate about the beauty of Moroccan designs and eager to share the beauty of these creations with you, Tao and Houssine are working tirelessly at expanding their product portfolio. So go ahead, make yourself at home and don’t forget to contact us with any questions or suggestions.
