Moroccan Home Decor

Are you tired of seeing the same old rooms day in and day out when you walk through your home? Perhaps it is time for you to make some changes, and implementing a few Moroccan decor touches can really shake things up! Why simply change interior colors or replace furniture when you can have a whole new exotic and mysterious look instead? Moroccan home decor is an extremely hot trend these days, because it combines different cultural influences and styles to form a unique amazing blend. There are two main types of Moroccan decor, rural and urban. Rural Moroccan home decor is heavily influenced by Middle Eastern culture, and can include linens, rugs, hand embroideries, tapestries, and more. Whereas urban Moroccan decor is the product of the Moroccan culture itself and it includes woodwork, metalwork, hand thrown ceramics, sheep and goat leather upholestry etc.

Moroccan Home Decor Tips:

• Plants play an important role in Moroccan home decor, so consider including a number of potted plants when decorating your home. There are many plants that can blend in well with Moroccan decor, and a general guideline is to use plants which are exotic, lush and reminiscent of an oasis.

•Moroccan lighting is very important. Moroccan lamps and lanterns are very unique and are unlike any other lighting accessories found in other areas around the globe. There are two types of Moroccan lighting accessories: Regular and Luxurious. The regular type uses ironwork and is fairly affordable, whereas the luxury Moroccan lanterns use more expensive metals and require weeks if not months of hard labor. The use of Moroccan lanterns and lamps that are intricately hand carved specifically for Moroccan lighting purposes can add an exquisite warming atmosphere to your home.

• Moroccan decor is a blend of many textures, shapes, and colors. Texture variance is extensively used in Moroccan home decor, and materials without much texture are discarded in favor of materials with highly pronounced patterns and colors. Flooring is usually accentuated by rugs and throws made of natural fibers, most of which can also be used on walls as tapestries.

• Moroccan Mosaics and tiles are extremely colorful can be a fantastic addition to any Moroccan home décor. These ceramic puzzle-like pieces will bring a nice oriental touch to any space and will make it look more inviting.
